The MOVES III Plan is an incentive programme in Spain aimed at promoting sustainable mobility and energy efficiency in the transport sector.
The main objective of this plan is the reduction of polluting emissions and the transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable mobility. Some of the main features of the MOVES III Plan are detailed below:
- Incentives for the purchase of electric vehicles: The plan provides financial support for the purchase of electric vehicles, whether passenger cars, commercial or industrial vehicles. These incentives aim to make the transition to electric mobility more accessible.
- Charging infrastructure: Subsidies are envisaged for the installation of electric vehicle charging points. This is crucial to remove barriers to electric mobility by ensuring adequate charging infrastructure throughout the country.
- Fleet renewal: The plan promotes the renewal of public transport and freight fleets, encouraging the replacement of conventional vehicles with those using cleaner and more energy-efficient technologies.
- Sustainable urban mobility: Specific measures for sustainable mobility in urban environments are promoted. These measures may include the promotion of shared mobility, the promotion of efficient public transport and the creation of low-emission zones.
- Efficient energy management: The plan may include measures to improve energy efficiency in transport by encouraging practices and technologies that reduce energy consumption and minimise environmental impact.
As far as charging infrastructure is concerned, the MOVES III Plan in Spain includes specific measures to promote electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
In this respect, the MOVES III Plan offers:
- Aid for charging points in homes and businesses: Private users and businesses can access financial aid to install electric vehicle charging points in their homes or workplaces. This aims to facilitate the charging of electric vehicles at night or during working hours, making charging more convenient for EV owners.
- Subsidies for public charging points: The MOVES III Plan also includes incentives for the installation of public charging points. This is essential to create a network of accessible charging infrastructure in strategic locations such as public car parks, shopping centres, petrol stations and other commonly used spaces.
- Fast and ultra-fast charging: The plan may include specific measures for the installation of fast and ultra-fast chargers. These charging points allow electric vehicles to be charged more quickly, helping to remove the time barriers associated with charging and making the experience more similar to refuelling at conventional service stations.
- Integration with renewables: In some cases, the MOVES III Plan may encourage the integration of charging infrastructure with renewable energy sources, such as solar or wind. This could boost the sustainability of the charging process and further reduce the environmental footprint of electric mobility.
- Intelligent recharge management: Intelligent recharge management systems can be promoted to enable efficient energy distribution, avoiding demand peaks and optimising the use of the electricity grid.
In the specific case of ERANOVUM EMOBILITY, we have applied for a subsidy from the MOVES III plan in projects in the construction phase or already operational, in the following autonomous communities: Madrid, Valencia, Andalusia, Asturias, Cantabria, Basque Country, Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, Castilla y León, Castilla La Mancha, Catalonia, Extremadura, Galicia, La Rioja, Murcia and Navarre.
