    Frequently Asked Questions

An electric car charging point is a facility designed to supply electric power to any electric car that can be plugged in to recharge its battery. These charging points can be found in a variety of locations, such as hotels, restaurants, petrol stations, public car parks, shopping centres or businesses, among others. You can consult The Eranovum network to locate the charging point closest to you.

The types of charging points for electric cars is diverse and depends on the classification criteria chosen.

In terms of charging power and the time needed to top up the electric car battery, four types of charging points can be distinguished:

    • Slow (between 4 and 8 hours)
    • Semi-fast (between 3 and 5 hours)
    • Fast (30 minutes)
    • Ultra-fast (15 minutes)

There are also different types of charging points depending on the connector:

    • Schuko (domestic use)
    • Type 1 (not very common in Spain)
    • Type 2 or Mennekes (common in our country)
    • Type 3 (in disuse)
    • CHAdeMO (common in cars manufactured in Japan)
    • CCS connector (typical of charging stations in Europe and North America).

A third type of charging point has to do with the way the charger is installed. Thus one can find:

    • Wall-mounted devices or wallbox for indoor charging and domestic use.
    • Free-standing or totem terminals, designed for outdoor use and to provide charging infrastructures in companies.

The electric car charging point works with electrical energy to supply the vehicle and recharge the battery. In order to supply the car with power, a charging point is needed according to the characteristics of the vehicle and a suitable connector for communication between the charger and the car. The price of charging the electric car depends on the charging power and is generally paid by bank card, app or RFID devices.

The maintenance of charging points for electric cars is essential to ensure their safe, efficient and long-lasting operation. Optimal maintenance of charging points requires qualified personnel to carry out these tasks:

    • Cleaning
    • Visual and technical inspection
    • Functional testing
    • Software update
    • Checking of electrical components
    • Network infrastructure management
    • Technical support and repairs

At Eranovum we take of the comprehensive management of the recharging points we install and the 24/7 maintenance of each infrastructure.

The payment systems that can be used to pay for electric car charging are:

    • Mobile app. Charging point operators usually offer the option of paying via their mobile app. Download the Eranovum app for Android or iOS.
    • RFID. This is a card issued by the charge point operator that contains the authentication information of each customer. The Eranovum RFID device, available in key fob or card format, recognises the user when swiped and allows faster and easier recharging.
    • Bank card. The option to pay by contactless debit or credit card is available on some chargers.
